Thank you for helping

On behalf of the “Play with a Pro” to benefit “Soldier’s best Friend” charity event committee, I would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and effort to run this first ever SCG Pickleball Club event and to everyone who donated to the “Soldier’s best Friend” charity. The club was able to raise $4,793 to donate to this very worthwhile cause to benefit our veterans. I would also like to thank everyone who donated toys to the “Toys for Tots” drive. We were able to collect 6 large boxes of toys which will put a smile on a lot of children’s faces this holiday season. Again, thanks to everyone in the Pickleball Club for helping both of these charities. I would also like wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

Accompanied overnight guests now welcome at drop in

Effective immediately the Board has decided to allow overnight guests of club members to play at “Drop In” as long as they are accompanied by the member. The member will need to go to the monitor station and sign in their guest. The guest must wear a guest badge while playing. The guest must be at least 16 years old to play. Monitors will need to make sure all guests have signed in and are wearing a guest badge.

Soldier’s Best Friend charity event

The club is hosting a fund raising event for a local charity, Soldier’s Best Friend, on Dec 17th. I wish all of you could have heard the inspired story of a veteran recipient of the charity when he spoke at our last club meeting. The therapeutic trained dog (which was also rescued) not only helps the veteran live with his combat related PTSD daily but helps the entire family as the dog is trained to interact with the veteran if it notices potential harmful behavior related to the PTSD.

During this Christmas season of joy and giving, we urge you to donate to the charity and/or participate in the Play-with-a-Pro events. Use this link Charity Registration Form to get the registration form with more details. Support the club by donating to this great charity even if you don’t plan to Play-with-a-Pro. Fill out the three lines on the registration form regardless if you plan to play or just to donate without playing (used to send your receipt). The mailing address on the form.

Use this opportunity to be paired with a professional Pickleball player and play against another pro/amateur pair in an approximate 20 minute play/learn session. The intent is for you to have FUN while contributing to the $4,000 needed to train a dog/vet pair. If you have a preference if you’d like to be paired with or against men/women/mixed/PB ranking note it on the registration form and we’ll attempt to honor it. Again, this mainly about helping a worthy cause while giving you an educational opportunity.

The event will also enable us to watch professional exhibition matches (see how the game should be played!), win some raffle prizes, enjoy some food, and hang out with friends.

One last request—There will also be a Bake Sale. Marlene Berwald mberwald04@gmail.com is coordinating that aspect of the event. The baked goods will all be sold for $1.00 per serving. Contact Marlene and she can give you more information.

Thanks and please donate to this worthy cause (make checks payable to Soldier’s Best Friend)

Various Important Items

1) Courts closed for cleaning Wednesday
2) Two monitors for morning drop in, one monitor for afternoon

1) The courts will be closed all day on Wednesday December 6 for the scheduled monthly cleaning, again I am asking everyone to stay off the courts so maintenance can do their job without interference from players.

2) For the months of December through March we will have 2 monitors for the MORNING DROP IN ONLY, afternoon drop in will continue to have only 1 monitor. If two members sign up for afternoon drop in, the first one who signed up will be the only person who gets credit for monitoring. Make sure you check the monitor calendar for dates and times that are available before you sign up.
