Pickleball Players Survey Results
In the summer of 2013, many club members participated in a survey regarding the reasons that they play pickleball and the benefits that they receive. Michael Hess has sent his report of the survey results in this PDF file. Mike and I thank those that participated and hope that they find the results interesting and useful for promoting the sport.

Pickleball Mixer Binder Missing, Monitors Needed & Lost & Found
WHAT’S IN THIS EMAIL |
1. Mixer Monitor Binder is Missing
The Mixer Monitor Binder is missing from the monitor’s chest at the courts. Please check your packs and belongings to see if you accidently took it home. If you have it, please return ASAP. Mixer monitors should use the morning drop-in sign-in sheets and cross out that information and write the name of the mixer at the top of the sheet until the binder is returned or replaced.
2. Monitors Needed
Monitors are urgently needed for the remaining days in August and every day in September. Drop-in will be cancelled if we do not have monitors.
Now is the time to sign up and fulfill your monitor requirement in 2013. Those that do not complete their monitor requirement will be unable to play in club events in 2014.
Every member must monitor in 2013. There are no exceptions.
3. The Lost and Found box at the courts is full. Please check the box for items you may have left on the courts. The box is located under the large counter top, on the right side, in the Pavilion.

Pickleball Club Supports Softball Club Charity Event
July 3rd-6th
7A-11A
@ SCG ‘Field of Dreams’ Softball Field
Wednesday, July 3 through Saturday, July 6 the SCG Softball Club invites our friends and neighbors to join us in honoring the men and women who have served our great nation.
The Softball Club will be hosting our third annual benefit for the over 2000 homeless Veterans in Maricopa County. These men and women stepped up to serve their country when needed, but have received little assistance in their time of need. There are three wonderful agencies that work each and every day to assist these men and women who will benefit from this event: Vets First, Madison Street Vets and US Vets.
We want to see as many of our neighbors & friends as possible every day, but especially on the morning of July 4th for a special Independence Day-July 4th Honor Guard & musical tribute at 7AM.
Each day there will be new items on the silent auction tables for bid, everything from gift certificates to your favorite restaurants to art, jewelry, salon & spa packages, automotive and sports memorabilia – you name it-we have it-waiting for your bid. All proceeds going to our vets! Last July the Club raised $14,000.00 for these organizations, with your help, the Club can do that (and more) again this year. Don’t miss a day since every day the auction items change!
Day 1: Wednesday, July 3rd 7AM
Silent Auction & 2 Softball Games
Fresh Dunkin’ Donuts & Coffee and Hot Dogs (every day)
Day 2: Thursday, July 4th 7AM
Opening Ceremonies Special of the Day: Luke AFB Honor Guard & National Anthem Tribute by Bill Fedor & Dan Reed

Day 3: Friday, July 5th 7AM

Day 4: Saturday, July 6th 7AM

Team work is when common people accomplish uncommon feats. Our softball club and our fantastic sponsors, friends and neighbors make up one heck of a great team. We hope that you will take the time to support this worthy cause and become a part of this amazing team!
The softball field is located at 15180 W. Mountain View Blvd.

Pickleball Survey of International Significance
I am consulting with Michael Hess, a professor of sports management and marketing in Spain, to establish pickleball in Spain and throughout Europe. The rules are being translated into several languages.
A survey is being conducted to improve understanding of the motives for playing pickleball. The findings will be used to help those who organize pickleball events, clubs, training and tournaments to enhance players’ experience as well as to help attract new players to this great sport.
The survey is being conducted by two pickleball aficionados: Michael Hess, PhD (CUNEF University) and David Scally, Masters in Sport Management (University College Dublin).
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. All questions are optional and anonymous.
Michael would appreciate the support of Arizona players and will share the results of the survey.
