Grand Pickleball Club Drop-in Procedure

Check the Calendar of Events for times.

Description:  One or more 2-hour blocks of time are reserved each day for drop-in sessions.  A drop-in session is one in which players simply drop in, without advance reservations, to play other drop-in players.

Eligibility: Players must be Grand Pickleball Club members or guests* in order to play in the drop-in sessions.  Prospective members will be welcomed for a maximum of three drop in sessions before they must make the decision to join.

* GUEST is defined as an individual(s) or family member(s) who temporarily reside as a guest(s) with a Sun City Grand resident during an area visit. These individuals may use the Association’s facilities if they meet all respective club requirements for safety, training and individual decorum.

Rotation System for Waiting Players: After the first drop-in game of the day, one or more of the players should make room for waiting players

Court Assignments: All courts with the exception of court 11 and 12 are available for play by any skill level. Players are expected to observe and make individual decisions regarding where they choose to play on any given day. Courts 11 and 12 are the only courts assigned to a specific skill level of players. These courts (11 & 12) are reserved for beginner/novice players who elect to play here although they may play on any other courts as well. Players not in the beginner/novice category who choose to play on courts 11 and 12 shall teach and/or assist the beginner/novice players during the drop in period. If you choose not to assist or teach please do not play on court 11 or 12.

Win By One Point:  Drop-in games must be won by one point so that games are of approximately equal length.  This is an exception to the normal rule that games must be won by two points.

North Side Serves First:  By local convention for our drop-in games, the north side of the court will serve first.  Remember that the team that serves first just gets one fault before turning the ball over to the opponents.

Name Tags:  It is the responsibility of all club members to wear their name tags during drop in and any other club function. Guests must wear a temporary guest badge provided by the monitor.
