All,
Over the last two weeks, 23
pickleball club members attended CPR/AED training provided by Vic Fastiggi here at Sun City Grand. Thanks again to
Ching for setting this up, and to Vic, and congratulations to Ron Zettek, Joyce Miller, Pat Kane, Rock Kane, Ken Monefeldt, Jan Booth, John Anglin, Nancy Eckart, Bob
Eckart, Ching Valde, Bonnie Heinz,
Mariel Antonino, Nikki Greene, Gale Leach, Jean McCurdy, Bill McCurdy, Linda
Pimental, Rhonda Ratekin, George Cox,
Rob Gartlan, Linda Lenzini, Kay Ford and Gerri Gerard
for completing the course. We hope we never need your services.
If you use the first aid
kit, please let Ching Valde
know so that she can make sure the kit gets restocked properly. This will keep our first aid kit up to date
and ready for the next emergency, which may involve you.
A conceptual idea has
been submitted for an indoor pickleball court for the summer.
I have been talking to the
other pickleball club presidents in the area (Sun City, Sun City West, Pebble Creek, Arizona
Traditions, Happy Trails, and Festival) about having some interclub
activity. What I have proposed is to have an interclub skill
level drop in once a month. Each month, one of the local clubs
would host a particular skill level. So in July for example,
SCG would host an A skill level drop in, SCW would host the open
skill level drop in, Festival would host the B level, Pebble Creek would host
the C's, etc. The following month, SCG would host the opens, Festival the
C's, SC the A's, AZT would host the B's for example. The other
clubs have expressed interest even though a lot of their folks are
gone for the summer as well. If you think you might be interested in
participating, would you please send me an email (rgartlan@cox.net)
and let me know what skill level you would be playing in. I am not asking
for a commitment, just trying to get some idea of the interest level here at
SCG by skill level.
The volunteer signup is
available for the November tournament on our website at http://grandpickleball.org/tournament/volunteer.html.
Thanks,
Rob Gartlan
