1. An article, “Battle for court space pauses in Sun City Grand” was recently published in the Surprise Today. It is available online here. Please read the article carefully, as we feel this decision will eventually impact the entire SCG community as potential home buyers/retiree’s start to look elsewhere. The SCG Board not voting to expand the number of courts may lead us to decreasing the number of beginner lessons the Club provides, if not curtailing them all together as a way of reducing the overcrowding of the courts in peak season.
2. Please read in the Surprise Independent, dated 7/22/2015, a ” letter to the editor” from one of our members titled “Pickleball vote a mistake”. http://surpriseindependent.az.newsmemory.com/. Page 4.
3. We encourage all of you to read theses articles, express your opinions and make your concerns and voices heard.
4. We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Club member Rosemary Zakowski earlier this month. Rosemary is survived by her loving husband and Club member Hubert . Both have been long time members of the Club and we are all saddened by her passing. The Club wants to send its heartfelt condolences to Hubert and his family for their loss.
We hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and we look forward to re-energizing and re-focusing our efforts in the fall to find an equitable and reasonable solution to the current need for more pickleball courts.
