Soldier’s Best Friend charity event

The club is hosting a fund raising event for a local charity, Soldier’s Best Friend, on Dec 17th. I wish all of you could have heard the inspired story of a veteran recipient of the charity when he spoke at our last club meeting. The therapeutic trained dog (which was also rescued) not only helps the veteran live with his combat related PTSD daily but helps the entire family as the dog is trained to interact with the veteran if it notices potential harmful behavior related to the PTSD.

During this Christmas season of joy and giving, we urge you to donate to the charity and/or participate in the Play-with-a-Pro events. Use this link Charity Registration Form to get the registration form with more details. Support the club by donating to this great charity even if you don’t plan to Play-with-a-Pro. Fill out the three lines on the registration form regardless if you plan to play or just to donate without playing (used to send your receipt). The mailing address on the form.

Use this opportunity to be paired with a professional Pickleball player and play against another pro/amateur pair in an approximate 20 minute play/learn session. The intent is for you to have FUN while contributing to the $4,000 needed to train a dog/vet pair. If you have a preference if you’d like to be paired with or against men/women/mixed/PB ranking note it on the registration form and we’ll attempt to honor it. Again, this mainly about helping a worthy cause while giving you an educational opportunity.

The event will also enable us to watch professional exhibition matches (see how the game should be played!), win some raffle prizes, enjoy some food, and hang out with friends.

One last request—There will also be a Bake Sale. Marlene Berwald mberwald04@gmail.com is coordinating that aspect of the event. The baked goods will all be sold for $1.00 per serving. Contact Marlene and she can give you more information.

Thanks and please donate to this worthy cause (make checks payable to Soldier’s Best Friend)
