Happy New Year to the more than 2,000 club members. I hope that 2025 is going to be as good or better than 2024 was. We had almost 82,000 members swipe in last year. Imagine what that number would be if everyone swiped in when they played.
A couple of items that I want to bring up.
First – Please sign/swipe in when you use the pickleball courts. If you reserve a court and don’t sign in, there will be consequences. If you are not going to use the court, release it.
Second – During drop in, guests must have a club member sponsor that signs them in and stays with them during their entire time on the courts. The rule is that guests can only play 3 times in a calendar year.
Third – Rally scoring – Our rules are set. Play to 15, freeze at 14, must be serving to win. Switch sides at 8. I’ve heard that some members are making their own rules up during drop in and servers are moving after scoring a point. STOP IT.
Fourth – Over 750 people have renewed in the last 2 days with very few issues. Any issues with renewing or court reserve, please contact Mark Meier at mark@relaxedrver.com
Fifth – We are having the first New Members meeting of the year this coming Monday (Jan 6, 2025) at 3pm in the Cimarron club room at the Cimmaron Center. If you are a newer member and want to find out everything to know about the club, then this is the meeting for you.
Sixth – There will be sticker parties on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9-noon in the pavilion and again on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 9-noon. Coffee and Donuts will be available each day. What is a sticker party you ask? It’s where we hand out the new year sticker for all of the members who have renewed or just joined the club. We will have a help desk set up and a place to get a name label for you paddles or water bottles. There will be club t-shirts ($10) and insulated water bottles ($20) for sale as well. There will be more sticker parties scheduled, so if you miss these, don’t worry. In addition to the parties, each board member will have stickers with them to hand out as needed.
Lastly – I believe that we have the best club in Grand and it’s because of our membership. Play your best and be your best on the courts.
