1) Volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Bank
There were some members asking at the Club Pizza Party if the PB Club still had members volunteering at the Food Bank. The answer is “yes” and below is some helpful information if you would like to donate your time for a worthy cause.
Please see the latest edition of the Surprise Independent from page headline ” Hunger hits West Valley http://surpriseindependent.com/west-valley/hunger-isnt-just-for-the-homeless/. It is great article and shows a picture of two SCG residents helping at the Kids Café where almost 5,000 lunches are prepared daily to be sent out all over the Valley to help make sure kids in need have a good lunch.
The Kids Café needs help Monday mornings from 7:00am to 9:30am making and packaging lunches that are sent out to needy Valley children. Please contact Bob Ellis at rwellis736@yahoo.com if you would like further information or would like to volunteer. There is no long term commitment, the work is easy and any hours you can spare are appreciated by the Food Bank.
If you are not an early bird there are many other volunteer positions from sorting of donated food to helping handing out food to needy families that come in for help. Please see http://www.firstfoodbank.org/ for more information on St. Mary’s Food Bank.
The Food Bank is located right behind the Motor Vehicle building on Bell Road, ask for Mimi:
