Pickleball BOD Election Update

PLEASE READ THE BELOW EMAIL FROM MEL LANGER

2023 PICKLEBALL BOARD NOMINATIONS

After the November 8th meeting, several of our members took on the challenge, and submitted their name as nominees for the open positions.

I wouldn’t say that my mailbox was inundated with submissions; nevertheless, we now have enough to move forward with a full board and perpetuate the existence of our club for another 12 months.

Here are the particulars:

The presidency has one year remaining, and Troy Konz will continue to serve.

For vice president, we have only one candidate, Dennis O’Dell, our current vice president. He will therefore be unopposed and serve two more years.

For secretary, another singular candidate, Jeanne Harteau will run unopposed.

Eileen Saunders as treasurer, has one year remaining against a 2-year commitment, and will continue to serve.

There are 3 Member at Large positions. Laura Darrow has one year left on her 2-year commitment and will fulfill that role.

There are two remaining Member at Large seats. Five people will vie for those. They are listed below. These are the only 2 seats that require a vote, which will take place at our December 13, 2022, meeting.

Vicki Nicodemo

Sharon Marassa

Bob Schrag

Joe Shevlin

Mark Meier

Here’s what will happen at that meeting:

Each person attending, will be given a ballot when you check in at the front desk.

Each of the 5 candidates will give a synopsis of who they are, their background, interests, qualifications, etc. Their presentation will be limited to 3 minutes.

NOTE: Although running unopposed (and NOT on the ballot) since she is a new candidate, Jeanne Harteau may at her discretion, give a 3-minute presentation as well.

Once candidates start their presentation, NO MORE BALLOTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED.

p.2 Pickleball Board Nominations

Then you will vote for two of the five nominees to fill the vacant Member at Large seats. You must be present to vote.

Ballots will be collected. We will have three ballot counters. The counters will be sequestered in a room away from the general meeting. This is necessary to avoid the fiasco that has taken place in prior years,

when despite admonition to the contrary, many of our members were interrupting the counters, and making it difficult for them to do their job.

After the count is complete, all of the paper ballots, and tally sheets will be given to me. I will take them home and audit the results. This is done as a double and triple check to be fair to all candidates.

DO NOT SEND ME ANY EMAILS ASKING WHEN THE RESULTS WILL BE PUBLISHED.

I will transmit the results to our club president within 48 hours. He will then send a blast email to all of our members.

If there are any questions, my email is below.
